Why Get Involved?
Research shows when parents are involved in their children’s education it benefits them in many ways. These benefits include higher grade and test scores, better attitudes and behavior, better attendance, and a greater likelihood of graduating high school.

Showing an interest in your child’s education, setting high expectation for achievement and letting your child know you believe in his or her abilities sets a positive context for growth and achievement.

How Do I Get Involved?

You can get involved in your child’s education in many ways. These include things as simple as speaking to your child about the benefits of education, making sure your child gets to school on time, attend open houses and parent-teacher conferences, and answer notes and calls from your child’s teacher.

Other ways to get involved is to volunteer in your child’s classroom, join the VASA Parent Organization, or get elected to the VASA School Site Council.
